The Brave Little Parrot

SHORT SUMMARY

The Brave Little Parrot

Once upon a time, Lord Gautam Buddha incarnated in the form of a parrot. One day, a fire broke out in the forest due to the storm. All the animals and birds were in danger. They ran here and there for their safety in a panic. The little parrot was going to the river at that time. He saw a terrible sight in the forest.

The parrot ran towards the river and took a dip in the river. He wanted to save the lives of animals and birds. After diving, he waved his wings, flying over a burning forest. Small drops of water fell from the body of the parrot, but those drops could not stop the flames of fire. He continued his particular activity for a long time. His eyes turned red and his feet got burned, but he did not give up his duty. The parrot tried his best to save the lives of animals and birds. It was a difficult task for him. The gods were also looking after the continuous task of the parrot. There were gods in the palace. Seeing the tasks of the parrot, the gods even laughed. They called the parrot a fool because the parrot was trying to put out the fire with a few drops of water from his wings. Then a kind-hearted God pitied the parrot's tasks. His heart melted with kindness, and he wanted to help the poor animals and birds that were in danger. Merciful God disguised himself as a golden eagle and moved there. The golden eagle told the parrot that it would be better for the parrot to save its life. The parrot said that he needed help rather than advice. Then the eagle also took pity on the birds and animals and tried to help like a parrot. The eagle cried, and tears flowed from its eyes. The fire was finally extinguished.

Then the eagle's tears gave new life to the animals, birds, grass, plants, etc. Everything became as before. The little brave parrot also got red, green, and yellow feathers. Again, all the birds and animals enjoyed themselves there, and they saw the little brave parrot high in the sky.

FOUR LEVELS OF INTERPRETATION

The Brave Little Parrot

1. Literal Comprehension:

The story "The Brave Little Parrot" was written many years ago. Once, Lord Buddha incarnated in the form of a parrot. One stormy day, a fire broke out in the forest. Animals and birds were in danger. Animals and birds used to run here and there for their safety. The little parrot was going to the river at that time. He saw a terrible sight in the forest.

The parrot ran towards the river and took a dip in the river. He wanted to save the lives of animals and birds. After diving, he waved his wings, flying over a burning forest. Small drops of water fell from the body of the parrot, but those drops could not stop the flames. He continued this particular activity for a long time. His eyes turned red. His feet got burned, but he did not give up his duty. The parrot tried his best to save the lives of animals and birds. It was a difficult task for him. The gods were also looking after the work of the parrot. There were gods in the palace. Seeing the work of the parrot, the gods laughed. They called the parrot a fool because the parrot was trying to put out the fire with a few drops of water. Then a kind-hearted God pitied the parrot's tasks. His heart melted with kindness, and he wanted to help the poor animals and birds that were in danger. Merciful God disguised himself as a golden eagle. The golden eagle told the parrot that it would be better for the parrot to save its life. The parrot said that he needed help rather than advice. Then the eagle also took pity on the birds and animals and tried to help like a parrot. The eagle cried, and tears flowed from its eyes. The fire was extinguished.

Then the eagle's tears gave new life to the animals, birds, grass, plants, etc. Everything became as before. The little brave parrot also got red, green, and yellow feathers. Again, all the birds and animals enjoyed themselves there, and they saw the little brave parrot high in the sky.

2. Interpretation:

The little parrot worked for the animals and birds that were in danger. He tried his best for the animals and continued his duty. If the parrot had not done this, God would not have shown himself as a golden eagle and would not have helped the animals and birds in the forest. This story gives the moral lesson that we should do our duty for the welfare of others. God helps those who help others. The parrot worked hard, although there was little water in its feathers. Instead of helping the poor parrots and animals, the gods were laughing. It also shows that common people help each other but not the rich and upper class. Like the parrot, he understood the suffering of wild animals and birds but not the gods. So this story deals with the importance of bravery and virtuous service, which are eventually rewarded.

3. Critical Thinking:

It is not difficult to understand this story. The words are easy to understand. But the content of this story is hard to believe. How can a bird's tears put out a fire? If someone says so, no one will believe it. Similarly, we have never seen anyone reborn. I have never seen a bird's heart melt with kindness. It is only a religious belief.

4. Assimilation:

I was very impressed after reading this story. I learned that we should show compassion to helpless humans or animals. We get satisfaction from helping others. There is great satisfaction in working hard. The little brave parrot got into trouble, but he was content to help the poor animals and birds.
